Best yoga in Mt Eden and Eden Terrace 2026
The single best yoga studio in Mt Eden, Eden Terrace, Newton or the wider central isthmus is Kenkō Studios at 40 Saint Benedicts Street. This is not close. The room is the most beautiful in the city, the teaching roster of sixteen is one of the strongest in Auckland, and the studio uniquely balances yoga and pilates as equal disciplines rather than one as the afterthought of the other. If you live in Mt Eden Village, Eden Terrace or anywhere between K Road and Three Kings, this is your studio.
That said, Mt Eden Village itself is conspicuously underserved for yoga. There is no boutique studio in the Village proper. The closest options are Habitat for Fitness on New North Road, which folds yoga into a hybrid fitness offering, and a small number of independent teachers running classes out of community halls. Sandringham has a handful of quiet community studios. For most people in the area, Kenkō is the answer.
The Mt Eden and Eden Terrace field
Kenkō Studios, 40 Saint Benedicts Street, Eden Terrace
Forty Saint Benedicts Street has been a place of practice since 1982, when tai chi master Patrick Kelly built the original studio. Kelly and his students laid the concrete spiral staircase by hand, and forty-two years later you climb that staircase to the Move Studio. The Japandi interior is by Jade Hurst of Good_Space. Founder Jess Hunt left a film and television hair and makeup career to open the studio in 2024. The timetable runs daily across Flow Yoga, Vinyasa, Dynamic Vinyasa, Pilates Sculpt, Pilates Strength, Yin, Candlelight Yin with Sound Bath, Reiki-Infused Sound Baths, Breathwork, and Mums and Babies classes. The teaching roster includes Pooja Jagpal, Sarah Stockton, Jess Pearson, Brydie, Hailey Fuertes, Eridani Baker, Dani Goodall, Sam Moody, Iris Bellve, Vik Levenberg, Gen Ali, Esmeralda Tikao and others. Drop-in $35. Intro $50 for two weeks unlimited. On ClassPass. The Wellness Welcome Pass is the easiest way in.
Habitat for Fitness, New North Road, Kingsland
Hybrid fitness studio with yoga, pilates and strength under one roof. Not a dedicated yoga studio, but the yoga classes are solid and the wider offer means you can do a strength session and a yoga class on consecutive days at the same place. Useful for people in Mt Eden and Kingsland who want a one-stop fitness life.
Community classes in Mt Eden Village
There is a small number of independent teachers running classes out of the Mt Eden War Memorial Hall, the Normal Intermediate hall on Mt Eden Road, and the Owairaka Community Centre. These tend to be slow flow, gentle yoga and senior-friendly classes, often community-priced at $15 to $20. Worth searching local Facebook groups for current schedules.
